Jenny is... an improv comedy musical director
“Jenny is a top notch Musical Director. Not only is she a strong and versatile pianist, but she supports and heightens every improv singer she works with.”
Laura Hall (Whose Line is it Anyway)

Jenny is the mainstay improv comedy accompanist in Scotland. She is the musical director for two Edinburgh based improv comedy troupes - The Spontaneous Players and TBC Improv Theatre, and regular guest player and workshop leader for several other groups. Since 2020, she has regularly been delivering musical improv workshops for comedians in Edinburgh.

Jenny first encountered the improv comedy scene somewhat by accident in 2016, when her flatmate was recruited to play violin for Spontaneous Sherlock in the basement of the Canon's Gait pub in Edinburgh. After the show, it emerged that they were on the hunt for a new pianist as their current player was only available for one more show. One quick audition later, and Jenny joined the troupe and never looked back. With The Spontaneous Players, Jenny has toured packed theatres across the UK, performed sell out runs with Gilded Balloon during the Edinburgh Fringe, and won a Scottish Comedy Award.

As well as providing improvised incidental music for the shows, Jenny is also an adept accompanist for improvised songs and musicals. Regular performances have included Men With Coconuts and Absolute Improv, as well as guest spots with Baby Wants Candy and The Totally Improvised Musical. She is also experienced in leading workshops in musical improv for improvisers, leading many workshops independently since 2020, and sometimes in partnership with other improv teachers including Pippa Evans of Showstopper. Jenny is passionate about helping improvisers achieve their musical improv dreams, and is doing so with regular workshops in Edinburgh.
